The demand for an extremely short “time to market” is becoming louder and louder, especially in special machine construction. Current developments show how quickly the pressure on mechanical engineering can grow when means of production for the production of food or medicines are required within a very short time. SEW-EURODRIVE is therefore expanding its solution portfolio to include stainless steel servomotors and stainless steel servo geared motors. With this, the Bruchsal-based company is making its contribution to realizing machines and systems for hygienically demanding applications from the modular system. As a result, the precise hygienic drives can be delivered faster than is usual on the market.
The stainless steel servo geared motors of the PSH.. CM2H.. series have a hygienic design. They meet the strict guidelines of the European Hygienic Engineering Design Group (EHEDG) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for monitoring food and pharmaceuticals. The drives have a smooth surface with a roughness of less than 0.8 µm and have neither corners nor edges.
With a view to longevity and easy cleaning, the compact units consisting of a synchronous servo motor and planetary gear were developed in such a way that they can withstand high-pressure cleaning at high temperatures – even with chemical cleaning agents. The drive units are resistant to superheated steam and corrosive cleaning agents – two typical requirements for CIP and SIP processes (Clean In Place, Sterilization In Place). The degree of protection of the new stainless steel servo geared motors from SEW-EURODRIVE is IP69K.
